Fatal Head-on Collision on
Marshalls Corner Road

January 4, 2004 2017hrs:

Fire and EMS 12 units were alerted for a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Marshalls Corner Road (Rt 227) and Columbia Park Drive. Engine 121 and Ambulance 129 arrived on scene to find a two-vehicle head-on collision with a total of 3 patients. The driver of the Saturn was found unconscious and in critical condition. A helicopter and Medic 20 (NSWC Indian Head) were requested to respond to the scene to assist with the care of the critical patient. Shortly after, the patient stopped breathing and the crews on scene administered CPR. The patient was transported Priority One to Civista Medical Center in La Plata by Ambulance 129. Unfortunately, the patient was pronounced deceased upon arrival at the hospital. The 2 remaining patients were transported by ambulance to Civista Medical Center with serious but not life-threatening injuries. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
