Crews from Waldorf responded to the 2800 Block of Hamilton Road for reported Motor Vehicle Collision with Sheriffs Office units on scene. While enroute, Communications advised that there was one patient unresponsive. Safety 3, John Durrer, arrived on scene moments later with a two-vehicle side impact collision and advised all incoming units to use caution approaching the scene due to ice. Rescue Squad 3 arrived shortly after and provided patient care to the 17 year-old driver. Sgt Jenkins determined the best method of removing the patient from the vehicle would be to remove the crushed driver's side door. The crew from Squad 3 quickly setup the Maverick and Extractor Hurst Tools and removed the door. The patient was placed on a backboard by Ambulance 38's crew and removed from the vehicle. Ambulance 38 transported the patient to Civista Medical Center in La Plata. Icy road conditions and speed were contributing factors in this collision
Waldorf Responding Units: Rescue Squad 3, Ambulance 38, Ambulance 128, and Safety 3.
