Units from Waldorf were alerted for a commercial building fire at the Pinefield McDonalds. Potomac Heights Squad 7 was returning from a fill-in in Prince Georges County and was added to the assignment. Ambulance 37 arrived on the scene moments after the call was dispatched and reported a working fire with heavy smoke showing. Squad 7 arrived shortly after and reported fire showing from the roof area. Command Unit 3 and Engine 33 arrived on scene within minutes and advanced a 1¾" preconnect line into the structure. Once inside, firefighters discovered the large grease cookers used to make fries were fully involved in fire. As Engine 33's crew began knocking the fire down, Truck 3 arrived on scene and setup the aerial ladder to the roof. The Truck crew also threw 2 additional ground ladders around the structure before assisting the Engine with opening up the entire ceiling in the cooking area. The fire was extinguished within minutes with no extension into other parts of the restaurant. Units picked up and returned to service within an hour. The fire was determined to be accidental based on statements by the employees who were working at the time of the fire.
