on Arrival of Waldorf's Bravest

March 23, 2004 1639hrs:

Units from Waldorf were dispatched for a reported structure fire on Rock Court. While enroute, Engine 33 advised Communications they could see a large column of black smoke in the area. Firefighters arrived on scene within minutes and found heavy smoke and fire showing from the attic area of a 2-story single-family residence. Engine 33's crew advanced a 1-¾" preconnect line into the residence. Once inside, firefighters gained access to the attic scuttle hole in the stairway and quickly knocked down the fire in the attic. Engine 122 arrived on scene shortly after and stretched a second 1-¾" preconnect line to the 1st floor where they knocked down the remaining hot spots. Chief 3 held the units from Waldorf, along with La Plata Truck 1, and placed the remaining responding units in service. A small debris fire next to the residence is believed to have spread to the exterior wall and the fire traveled vertically into the attic. The fire is under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshall's Office.

Waldorf Responding Units: Engine 33, Squad 3, Engine 122, Ambulance 129, and Chief 3.
