Fire Apparatus Committee Travels to
American LaFrance Facility

April 13, 2004:

4 members of the Waldorf Fire Division Apparatus Committee traveled to the American LaFrance Facility in Charleston, South Carolina to inspect the cab and chassis of new Engine 31. The committee members spent several hours going over the new chassis with the final contract specifications to ensure that all the requirements were fulfilled. As with any new apparatus, several minor discrepancies were found but nothing that represented a "show stopper". In fact, most of the problems found were corrected before the committee left the facility. The chassis was scheduled to leave the facility the next day for Hamburg, New York where the pump and body are to be installed. After completing the inspection, the committee members were given a tour of the facility and shown some of the newest features of American LaFrance products. Upon returning home, the committee members reported that they were very pleased with the new unit and look forward to the next inspection in late July at the Hamburg, NY facility. New Engine 31 is scheduled for delivery in August 2004.
