Off-Duty MSP Trooper & Family
Injured in Crain Highway Collision

May 23, 2004 1754 hrs:

As Truck 3 and Rescue Squad 3 were clearing a Motor Vehicle Collision at Crain Highway and Acton Lane, another collision was dispatched just south of their location at Crain Highway and Central Avenue. Truck 3 and Rescue Squad 3 arrived moments later to find a 2-vehicle collision involving an MSP Trooper vehicle. The off-duty Trooper was traveling with several family members northbound on Crain Highway when a caravan attempted to turn onto Central Avenue from southbound Crain Highway. After performing a scene size-up, it was determined a total of 5 patients needed medical attention and transport. Medic One was requested to respond due to one patient having trouble breathing. Shortly after, a helicopter was requested to transport the injured MSP Trooper to the Baltimore Shock Trauma Center. Engine 33 and Engine 122 responded to the Stardust Motel to setup the landing site for MSP Trooper 7. Units cleared the scene within an hour and returned to quarters.
