Units were dispatched for a report of a garage fire at a single-family residence on Pasture View Court. While enroute, Communications advised that neighbors were reporting a handicapped occupant of the residence may be trapped inside. Chief 3B and Engine 33 arrived on scene to find smoke coming from the eves of an attached 1-story garage to a 2-story house. Engine 33 advanced a 1-¾" preconnect crosslay into the front door of the residence to make entry into the garage. Once inside the garage, firefighters found moderate smoke and heat conditions. The crew quickly located the fire in the front portion of the garage and knocked it down with the handline. Firefighters performed primary and secondary searches of the residence but no subjects were found inside. La Plata Truck 1 assisted E-33's crew with checking the attic area in the garage and securing power to the residence. Engine 122's crew checked the main residence for extension while Truck 1 setup fans to ventilate the smoke conditions. Chief 3-B had the Pasture View Command and held company's 3,12,and 1 and returned the rest of the assignment. Units cleared the scene within 1-1/2 hours and returned to quarters. The fire caused an estimated $10,000 worth of damage to the residence.
