Working Building Fire at Lonestar Steakhouse

June 8, 2004 2110 hrs:

Rescue Squad 3 was just clearing the scene of a motor vehicle collision on Crain Highway when Communications advised them to respond to Lonestar Steakhouse on Mall Circle for a reported building fire. Before the tone alert was sounded, Squad 3 arrived on scene with fire and smoke showing from the rooftop. The Squad crew advanced the 100ft bumper line to the rooftop as Engine 33, which arrived moments after the Squad, advanced a 1-¾" preconnect crosslay into the restaurant. Engine 33's crew found a working fire inside the kitchen with extension into the oven hoods and ceiling space. Squad 3 also found extension of the fire on the roof and to a large neon sign. Crews from Squad 3, Engine 33, Engine 32, Engine 122, and Truck 1 performed extensive overhaul on the roof area. The cause of the fire was determined to be an accidental grease fire. Units remained on the scene for 1-1/2hrs before clearing.
