Units from Waldorf were dispatched for a reported garage fire on Smokethorn Court in Sentry Woods. Engine 32 arrived on the scene with smoke showing from the residence. The homeowner, a NDW Firefighter, was holding the fire at bay in the garage with a small garden hose until the arrival of Engine 32. Firefighters advanced a 1-¾" handline into the residence and quickly extinguished the remaining fire in the garage. Rescue Squad 3 arrived on scene and assisted with setting up lights & a fan for ventilation. Chief 3B, incident commander, held the units from Companies 3, 12, and La Plata Truck 1 for overhaul. The Office of the State Fire Marshall was requested to respond to the scene. The on-duty fire marshall responded from the area of the Bay Bridge, an hour & a half away. Once the fire marshall arrived on scene, it was determined the origin of the fire was from a refrigerator kept in the garage. Units cleared the scene & returned to quarters at 0322hrs.
