November 22, 2003 2250hrs:
A commercial building fire assignment was sounded for a report of smoke coming from the rooftop of the Foods In convenience store on Mattawoman Drive. While enroute, dispatch advised the units that CCSO was on scene with smoke coming from the ventilation system. Engine 33 arrived on scene moments later with a visible haze inside the building. E-33's crew quickly stretched a 1-¾" preconnect attack line into the building and began searching for the source of the smoke. Firefighters laddered the roof and determined the rooftop air-handling unit had malfunctioned and produced the haze inside the store. Power was secured to the unit and Chief 3A held the units from Fire 3, Engine 122, and Engine 401 for pick-up. Units cleared the scene within 20 minutes and returned to quarters.
Waldorf Responding Units: Engine 33 with Chief 3A, Engine 122, and Ambulance 37.
Mutual Aid Units: Brandywine Engine 401, Baden Engine 361, Clinton Truck 25, La Plata Truck 1, and Hughesville Squad 2.
