Holiday Traffic Keeps Waldorf Units Busy

December 23, 2003:

Waldorf units have been responding to an increasing number of motor vehicle collisions throughout the area due to the large volume of holiday shoppers on the major thoroughfares. At 1815 hours, units responded to Crain Highway and Pierce Road and found a 4-vehicle collision with all the southbound lanes completely blocked. EMS units transported 3 patients from the scene to area hospitals. Fortunately, none of the injuries were life threatening. At 2239 hours, units responded to another major collision, this time with subjects trapped, at the intersection of Berry Road and Streamview Drive. Upon arrival, units found one vehicle in the intersection while the second vehicle continued approximately 100 yards down Berry Road before colliding head-on into a tree. The crew from Rescue Squad 3 made quick work of the front passenger door with the Hurst Paladin tool. MSP Trooper 2 flew one patient to an area trauma center while 2 other patients were transported to local hospitals.
