July 18, 2003 2209hrs:
Units from Waldorf were alerted for a motor vehicle collision with injuries at the intersection of Smallwood Drive and Copley Avenue. Chief 3 Dan Stevens arrived on scene with a two car collision with one patient unconcious. Chief 3 advised all units responding to step it up to Priority One. Squad 3 arrived moments later, along with Ambulance 39, and began patient care. The unconcious driver was quickly removed from the vehicle and packaged for transport by helicopter to Prince Georges Hospital Center. The second vehicle was located approximately 100 feet away with a second patient inside. Ambulance 129's crew assessed the patient and determined that the victim would also need to be airlifted to the trauma center. Squad 3's crew used the O-Cutters, Maverick tool, and an electric Saw-Zaw to remove the reinforced B-post of the mini-van in order to facilitate removal of the victim from the vehicle. Maryland State Police helicopters Trooper 2 and Trooper 7 responded to the scene to med-evac the patients. Units cleared the scene at 2256 hrs.
