Odor of Smoke
Inside Bridal Path Residence

July 25, 2003 2202hrs:

Units from Waldorf were alerted for a possible house fire on Bridal Path Drive. Engine 32 was on a service call in the Pinefield subdivision at the time of the call. Engine 122, under the command of F/F David Stokes, arrived on the scene of a 1-story single family dwelling with nothing showing. E-122's crew advanced a 1 3/4" attack line to the interior of the residence. As Engine 32, under the command of Sgt Josh Ringgold, picked up E-122's layout, F/F Stokes advised there was an odor of smoke inside and called for the thermal imager to be brought inside. Safety 12, Tom Edwards, discovered the source of the odor to be coming from the dishwasher. Inside the dishwasher, Safety 12 found a baby bottle melted to the heating element. All responding units were placed in service and the crews from 3 and 12 picked up.

Units Responding: Engine 32, Engine 122, Engine 241 and 242 (Accokeek), Truck 11 (Bryans Road), Squad 40 (Brandywine), Ambulance 129, and Safety 12.
