Possible House Fire in
Sentry Woods Subdivision

July 30, 2003 2009hrs:

Units from Waldorf were alerted for a possible house fire on Seagrape Court in the Sentry Woods Subdivision. Engine 32, under the command of Captain Ryan Pagel, and Chief 3A Clark Embrey arrived on the scene of a single-family residence with nothing evident. Engine 32's crew entered the residence where they were advised by the occupants that they smelled a slight odor of smoke and the cabinets in the kitchen felt warm to the touch. Chief 3A instructed all incoming units to stage on the main circle, with the exception of La Plata's Truck 1, while E-32 investigated the walls. The thermal imager was brought into the house and showed some warmth to the walls. E-32, Hughesville Squad 2, and La Plata Truck 1 worked to open up a small area behind the kitchen cabinets but nothing was found. Units were preparing to take-up when word came that a car outside had struck a pedestrian. Engine 122's crew, under the command of F/F David "Bizkit" Stokes, along with Ambulance 39, lead by EMT/OIC Dean Hyde, immediately rendered medical aid to the pedestrian. The pedestrian, an area resident, was crossing the road between La Plata's Truck 1 and La Plata's Command Unit when she was struck by a vehicle trying to get by the scene. A-39 transported the patient to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
