Vehicle Crashes into the Water
along Billingsley Road

August 1, 2003 1423hrs:

Units from Waldorf Fire and EMS 12 were dispatched for a reported motor vehicle collision on Billingsley Road near Cattle Place. Engine 121, under the command of Sgt Bryan Hamilton, arrived on scene to find a Ford Explorer that had driven off the road and ended up in a small creek. The vehicle was submerged in the water almost up to the windows with the occupants, a mother and two daughters, where still trapped inside. F/Fs Jon Dyson and Pete Easley entered the water and extricated the occupants from the vehicle and moved them to waiting EMS personnel from Paramedic Ambulance 129 and Bryans Road Ambulance 119. The driver was suffering from chest injuries after breaking the steering column. A helicopter was requested to transport the driver to a trauma center, but all area units were grounded due to weather. The occupants were then transported to a local hospital by the ambulances.
