August 3, 2003 0200-0600hrs:
The "Lads" of Fire 3 were busy in the early morning hours with several working incidents. At 0200hrs, Engine 33 responded to Kempsford Field Place for the auto fire. E-33's crew, under the command of F/F David Klinikowski, quickly worked to extinguish the fully involved passenger compartment of a parked Cadillac. The fire was brought under control within minutes of arrival. Charles County Sheriffs Office and Maryland State Fire Marshal's office responded to the scene. The cause of the fire was undetermined but did not appear to be arson.
At 0509hrs, Engine 31, along with Ambulance 399, responded Mutual Aid to Prince Georges County for a motor vehicle collision with one overturned. Brandywine Squad 40 and Medic 40 were already on the scene with a priority one subject still in the vehicle. E-31's crew, led by Chief 3A Clark Embrey, assisted Medic 40 with removing the patient from the vehicle. Maryland State Police Helicopter flew the patient to a Washington DC trauma center. Ambulance 399 packaged and loaded a second patient for transport to Southern Maryland Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
