Small Kitchen Fire
on Greenwood Drive

August 4, 2003 2217hrs:

Waldorf units were alerted for a single family house fire on Greenwood Drive. Chief 3A arrived on scene minutes later with a two story residence with light smoke showing. Engine 33, under the command of Sgt Ben Jenkins, and Engine 31, with Lt Brian Godfrey, arrived on scene moments later. E-33's crew advanced a 1 3/4" attack line into the structure where they found a small fire in the kitchen. The bulk of the fire had already been extinguished by the homeowner upon arrival. Crews quickly mopped up the remains and checked for extension into the walls and ceiling. Command held units from Company 3 and 12 on scene while placing the remaining responding units in service. The cause of the fire was determined to be from cooking materials on the stove.
