on Middletown Road

August 7, 2003 1419hrs:

Fire and EMS units from Waldorf Station 12, along with PG County Ambulance 249, were alerted for a motor vehicle collision on Middletown Road in the infamous S-Curves. While units were responding, Communications upgraded the assignment to a subject trapped response, adding Waldorf Engine 33 and Medic 21 to the call. Accokeek Utility 24 was in the area at the time dispatch and responded to assist. Engine 121 arrived minutes later with a two car collision head-on with one subject trapped. Ambulance 129 arrived on scene moments later and quickly surveyed the scene for patients, finding 2 additional patients from the second vehicle. E-121's crew used the Maverick tool to open the driver's side door to gain access to the trapped patient. Chief 3A setup the Middletown Road Command upon his arrival. Engine 33's crew assisted with cribbing the car and applying absorbant to leaking fluids. EMT/OIC Jodi Casey requested a helicopter to fly the trapped patient to an area trauma center. MSP Trooper 2 responded and landed at Westlake High School, where Engine 32 had established a landing site. The two patients from the second car were transported to Fort Washington Hospital in PG County by A-249.
