August 27, 2003 1612hrs:
Units from Waldorf Fire 3, EMS 3, and EMS 12, along with Medic One, were alerted for a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Crain Highway in the area of Gillespie's Trailer Park. Engine 32, under the command of Captain Ryan Pagel, arrived on the scene to find the motorcycle rider lying in the middle of Crain Highway in next to the median strip. FF/EMT James Thorne performed a quick assessment of the patient and immediately requested a helicopter for transport to a trauma center. Medic One and Ambulance 399 arrived on the scene moments later and assumed patient care. Engine 33 responded to setup a landing site at the Chaney Baseball field for MSP Trooper 2. Ambulance 399 and Medic One transported the patient to the LZ, where he was flown to an area trauma center. The collision was reportedly caused by a vehicle attempting to cross all the northbound lanes in order to get to the median to go southbound on Crain Highway.
