Kitchen Fire on Walbrook Court

September 3, 2003 1247hrs:

Units from Waldorf responded to Walbrook Court for a reported house fire. Engine 33, under the command of Captain Ryan Pagel, arrived on scene of a two-story single-family residence with nothing showing. As E-33's crew opened the front door to make entry, they were met with moderate smoke conditions inside the residence. Engine 33's crew advanced a 200' 1-3/4" attack line into the residence as Chief 3A arrived on scene and assumed command with light smoke showing. Truck 3, under the command of F/F Justin Zdobysz, arrive on scene and setup a PPV fan at the door and laddered the residence. E-33 located and extinguished the fire in the kitchen area, involving the stovetop, microwave, and the cabinets above. Chief 3A held the units from Company 3 and placed the rest of the assignment in service. The cause of the fire was determined to be cooking materials on the stove. Company 3 units on scene performed a quick overhaul and secured power to the kitchen area. Units cleared the scene within an hour and returned to quarters.
