Motorcycle Burst into Flames
Following Collision on Garner Avenue

September 21, 2003 1649hrs:

Units responded for a reported motor vehicle collision involving 2 motorcycles, one on fire, on Garner Avenue. Chief 3, Dan Stevens, arrived on scene minutes later with one motorcycle fully involved and one patient with serious injuries. F/F Matt Stevens, riding with the Chief, extinguished the bulk of the fire with a dry chemical extinguisher. Rescue Squad 3 arrived on scene and used the front bumper line to extinguish the remaining fire. Ambulance 399 and Medic 21 packaged the patient for transport to Civista Medical Center in La Plata with non-life threatening injuries. Area residents advised that the 2 motorcycles were seen minutes earlier racing around the neighborhood at high speeds. The collision occurred when one motorcycle ran into the back of the other.
