Car Flips, Traps One

On Thursday afternoon, Waldorf Engine Company 3 was alerted for the motor vehicle collision in the area of Poston Dr. and Piney Church Road. Utility 3 (Lt. Duer) arrived finding a single vehicle had severed a utility pole, rolled, landing on the roof. The sole operator of the vehicle was trapped. Charles County (communications) upgraded the assignment adding another Hurst tool, Engine and a Medic unit. Rescue Squad 3 under the command of D/C Mills arrived, securing the vehicle with the Rescue 42 stabilization bars. The Maverick tool and "O" Cutters were utilized to cut the driver's door allowing complete extrication of the patient. The patient was stabilized, packaged, and moved to the awaiting paramedic ambulance. U.S.P.P. Eagle 2 landed at Stethem Park to transport the patient to a nearby trauma center.

Units on the scene: RS-3, Paramedic Ambulance 128, Ambulance 38, Medic 609, Charles County Sheriff's Office, and Southern Maryland Electric Co-Op.

Engine 122 handled the landing zone.
