February 8, 1627 hrs | |||
Around 1627 hrs P.G. County dispatched an assignment for a house on fire in
Baden’s first due with Price Frederick, Mechanicsville, and Upper Marlboro
running the assignment as the Special Services on the call. Members from
Waldorf Fire 3 heard this assignment and quickly requested to run the call
realizing that we were indeed the closest Special Service to this incident.
Chief 36 granted permission for Squad 3 (82) to run the call and advised we
would be the first due Special Service. After a moment of denial from our
own communications center, who did not want to believe we were placed on the
run by the Chief of the first due company, Squad 3 was on it’s way. Squad 3
was the first arriving Special Service just behind Hughesville and Baden and
took a position on side A with fire showing through the roof. Squad 3 split
their crew and assisted Engine Co 36 with advancing their line while also
performing a primary search, securing the power and opening up the rooms
were the fire had spread. The Squad driver took care of all of the outside
ventilation and made sure all means of egress were open for crews operating
inside and ran lights and fans throughout the house. Squad 3 operated for
approximately 2 hours.
