Waldorf Volunteers, along with several neighboring companies, were alerted to
#10 Irongate Drive for a Building fire, odor of electric. Capt. 3 (Dypsky) was the
first to arrive on location of a single story commercial row with nothing
evident from side A. Engine 31 arrived next and advanced a 1¾" hand line into
the store. Capt. 3 advised all units that he had encountered a moderate
amount of smoke and heat and also possible sprinkler activation. E-31 and Capt. 3 located two autos on fire in side of a garage area and
quickly extinguished the fire. The possible sprinkler activation was from a
pipe to the water heater that had melted. Chief 3B arrived on the scene,
assuming the Irongate Dr. Command and assigned Capt-3 Operations, E-31 as the
attack group leader with E-122 working under them, and Truck-1 as the vent
Group Leader with RS-2 working under them. Tower 24 was assigned as the RIT.
Truck 1 and RS-2 opened the business up checked for extension and ran
several lights inside the business. Chief 3 soon arrived and assumed Command
with Chief 3B now acting as the Safety Officer. The remainder of the
assignment was placed in staging and never used. Units cleared in about an
hour. The MSFMO investigated the fire the next morning.
