Townhouse Fire at

On Monday March 2nd, 2009 at 0652hrs a box alarm was dispatched to 2050 Nike Drive in the Country Club South section of Waldorf for an apartment on fire. E-33, E-31, RS-3, Chief 3B, and the Fire Chief responded with 17 volunteers. Chief 3B arrived on the scene of a two story end of the row townhome with fire showing from the rear. Chief 3B established the Waldorf Command while E-33 and E-31 arrived on the scene. E-33 advanced an attack line to the number 2 floor of the fire unit. E-31 advanced a second attack line to the exposure unit. An aggressive interior attack was initiated by Waldorf Volunteers and the fire was brought under control in 15 minutes. Truck 1 from LaPlata arrived and assisted in ventilation and checking for extension. Primary and secondary searches proved negative. The Waldorf Command held units from Waldorf and Truck 1 for approximately 2 hours. Unattended candles were determined to be the cause of the fire.
