reported by Deputy Chief DJ Mills

Volunteers from Waldorf’s Stations 3 and 12 were kept busy this Monday with a working trailer fire behind Westlake High School, a working kitchen fire in the Bannister neighborhood, and a fatal motorcycle PI on Demarr Rd.

The first fire happened just before 1500 hours, behind Westlake High School where E-122 found a large storage trailer on fire and used an 1¾" hand-line to extinguish the same. E-122 and E-31 were held on this fire. The second fire was for a reported bedroom on fire on Allward Dr. in the Bannister neighborhood. E-31 arrived on scene with a 2 story single family home with nothing evident. After the front door was forced, a moderate amount of smoke was encountered and a kitchen on the second floor was found to be on fire. E-31 extinguished the fire while E-121 and Truck-1 were used to ventilate and perform the primary and secondary searches of the home. Chief 3 had command of both of these incidents.

About an hour after the Bannister house fire, E-31 was alerted to Demarr Rd for the Motorcycle PI. Medic 609 was first arriving and requested a helicopter right away. The helicopter was later cancelled due to the patient’s condition and was then transported by ground with CPR in progress. A second patient was also transported to a local area hospital. Chief 3B had command of this incident.
