House Fire in White Oak Neighborhood

April 13, 0222 hrs | |||
E-31 arrived on scene with a two story single-family home ordinary
construction with nothing evident from outside. After opening the front door
to the house E-31 was met with smoke conditions from the ceiling level to
the floor with zero visibility. E-31, s crew under the direction of Sgt M.
Lundin entered the house with an 1 3/4-hand line and located the seat of the
fire in the kitchen area on the first floor and extinguished the same. Chief
3B arrived on the scene assuming the Waldorf Command and directed Squad 3 to
meet up with E-32 and open up the walls to check for extension and too
ventilate at the same time. E-122 was directed to take a second line to the
second floor and check for any vertical extension. Truck 1 was tasked with
the primary and secondary searches which turned up negative. E-362 and RS-2
were assigned RIT. The cause of the fire was determined to be unattended
food left on the stove. There were 2 adult males at home that were alerted
by the smoke detector in the home. Chief 3B held the Waldorf Command.
