reported by Firefighter Tim Ramsey

On Wednesday April 22nd, 2009 at 1634 hours, Station 12 was dispatched for a personal injury accident at the intersection of Billingsley Road and Bensville Road. Calls came into dispatch reporting of a person ejected and trapped under a vehicle. RE-123 arrived on the scene to find a single vehicle accident with a car over the embankment and one subject trapped under the vehicle. The subject who had been ejected was trapped under the front end of the car. After further investigation, it was determined that only the lower extremities were pinned. RE-123 and RE-113 used air bags to lift the vehicle off of the victim. Cribbing was used to stabilize the vehicle before raising the car off the patient. RE-123 and RE-113 assisted Amb-127 in packaging the patient while Duty Officer 16B consulted with the Trauma Center at P.G. Hospital. It was determined that the patient would be flown to the Trauma Center. RE-123 loaded the patient in Amb-127 and was then transported to the landing zone priority 2. RE-123 handled the landing zone and awaited for Eagle 2 to arrive. Upon arrival of Eagle 2, the patient was transferred to the helicopter and then transported to the hospital. All units operated on the scene for about an hour.
