April 23, 1113 hrs:
Waldorf Volunteers were dispatched to the Dash In on Crain Highway in White Plains, for the a report of an individual with their hand trapped in a safe with no injuries. Due to the location being the split point between Company 3 (Waldorf) and Company 1 (La plata), Chief 3A requested Company 1 to respond.
Chief 3A and Squad 3 arrived to find a female with her hand inside the change shoot with two fingers trapped by the hopper of a money-dispensing safe. Due to her position and minimum access to the interior of the safe, a service technician was contacted. After several options that were suggested by the technician, the crew was able to break up the hopper using the Paratech Pneumatic Impact air gun off of Rescue Engine 13. Due to the lengthy extrication, the "GO" Team was started but cancelled after the patient was successfully extricated. The Patient was supported to Civista Medical Center by ParaAmb 129.
This lengthy extrication was a success due to the group of individuals working as a team. Great job by everyone.
Chief 3A had command, Officer of Rescue Engine 13 (F/F Travis Yates) had operations.
Responding Waldorf Units: RS-3, Chief 3A, ParaAmb 129, Amb 38
