On Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 1700 EMS Station 3 members under the direction of Deputy Chief Vernon Monday placed in service the
Paramedic Early Intervention Program (PIEP).

PEIP equipment allows EMS Station 3 members that are ALS Providers to provide ALS skills and interventions from our ambulances. By placing ALS equipment on our units this allows us to deliver early ALS care to the citizens of Waldorf and Charles County as needed.

The PEIP equipment list is based on the same standards for
ALS ambulances as required by the
Maryland Institute of Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS).

The PEIP equipment was utilized for its first call on
Friday, May 8, 2009 at 0857.

Thank you to all members that assisted in placing this equipment in service.
