At 1834 hours on May 7th, 2009 Engine Company's 12 & 3 were due for the Single Family House Fire in the area of Walleye Court. RE-123, E-121, E-31, E-124, V-3, Safety Officer's 3 & 12, and Chief 12B responded with a total of twenty-one personnel. While in route, RE-123 saw a large column of smoke coming from the area and upgraded the assignment to a working house fire. RE-123 arrived on side "A" with fire showing and their own hydrant. RE-123's crew then advanced a 1 3/4" crosslay to division 1 and encountered heavy fire in quadrants "A & B". Chief 12B arrived on scene and established the Walleye Court Command. E-121 arrived on scene and laid a 3" supply line from a secondary water source. E-121's crew advanced a second 1 3/4" crosslay to division 2 and encountered fire at the top of the steps. Once the fire was knocked down, E-121 advanced to the "A & B" quadrants and extinguished the fire in those quadrants as well as in the attic. E-31 arrived on scene and advanced a third crosslay to division 2 and extinguished the fire in "C & D" quadrants. Truck 1 assisted by opening up the walls and ventilating the roof. Other mutual aid units assisted with suppression of the remaining hot spots. After twenty minutes the fire was deemed under control as there was no IDLH existing. One firefighter was checked out for heat exhaustion and released by Amb-39 & Amb-127. Crews worked on scene for about two and half hours before command was terminated. At this time the fire is believed to be caused by arson and is being investigated by the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.
