Extrication on Crain Hwy at | |||
May 19, 2321 hours | |||
At 2123 hours Fire and EMS Station 3 were alerted to Crain Highway and Mattawoman-Beantown Road for the 10-50 P.I. Engine 32, Ambulance 39 and Chief 3B responded on the call. Chief 3B arrived on the scene with a corrected location of Crain Highway and Mattawoman Dr. After a quick size up of the scene, Chief 3B advised communications of the need for a second transport unit, a Medic Unit, and that the driver’s side door of one vehicle will need to be removed. Ambulance 39 arrived on the scene next and split their crew of four to provide patient care to patients in separate vehicles until the arrival of Ambulance 129. Engine 32 arrived on the scene and removed the front and rear driver’s side doors and the B post completely with the Hurst Tool compliment that is carried on all of our engines. With the removal of the doors and B post, this gave the EMS crew easy access to the patient. After the patient was removed from the vehicle Paramedic Ambulance 38 did an assessment on the patient and determined that it was a BLS transport and returned to service. Ambulance 39 and 129 transported two patients to local hospitals. Chief 3B held the Crain Highway Command and also requested additional absorbent brought to the scene from fire station 3 due to both vehicles losing most of their fluids. Units returned to service in just under an hour.
