| |||
June 17, 2323 hours | |||
On Thursday night Waldorf Volunteers from Companies 3 and 12 were alerted to the 100 block of Jefferson Rd for the house on fire. Communications had received multiple calls in reference to the fire and it was dispatched "across from" the initial 911 callers house. Engine 32 arrived on the scene with a two story single family home with fire showing from the second floor in quadrants A and B. Engine 32 quickly advanced a cross-lay to the second floor and began extinguishing the fire. Engine 121 from station 12 arrived next and secured the water supply for engine 32 and took a second line into the house to assist with extinguishment due to large volume of fire on the second floor. Truck 1, Chief 3 and Chief 3B arrived next simultaneously and Truck 1 was assigned the primary search due to a report of a person trapped inside. Chief 3B was assigned Division 2 and Chief 3 assumed the Waldorf Command. Squad 2 arrived on the scene and secured the utilities and assisted with opening up the second floor where several hot spots were located. Additional Engines from stations 12, 824, and 840 arrived on the scene and assisted with checking for downward extension and the area where the garage attic and second floor meet finding fire in those locations and extinguishing the same. One firefighter from Engine 32 suffered minor burns and was transported to Civista Medical Center and then later taken to Med Star in Washington D.C. Chief 3 held the Waldorf Command for approximately three hours. The Fire is still under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
