Motor Vehicle Collision with 1 Trapped

July 1, 2158 hours

Units from Waldorf were dispatched for a reported motor vehicle collision at the intersection of St Charles Pkwy & Post Office Road. First arriving Ambulance 39 found a two-vehicle collision in the intersection with people gathered on the side of the road. As the OIC from A39 was just beginning to sort patients from bystanders, Communications advised Rescue Squad 3 they were upgrading the assignment due to 1 patient reported to be trapped. A39 triaged the scene & confirmed 1 patient trapped & 2 patients total. Squad 3 arrived on scene & began working to remove both passenger-side doors as A39 stabilized the patient inside the car. EMS Duty Officer 3 arrived and began packaging the 2nd patient for transport. Once Squad 3 & Engine 33 completed the extrication, the patient was removed from the vehicle and turned over to Paramedic Ambulance 399. A39 took over primary care of the 2nd patient and transported to Civista Medical Center in La Plata. PA-399 ground transported their patient Priority 2 to Prince Georges Hospital Center. Units cleared the scene within 30 minutes & returned to quarters.
