Large Shed Fire | |||
August 20, 1432 hours | |||
Station 12 was dispatched for a smoke investigation at Marshalls Corner Road and Middletown Road. E-124 proceed to the location to investigate. As E-124 was arriving on scene, Charles County Communications advised they were filling out the assignment for the working shed fire due to numerous calls coming in. E-124 arrived on scene in the 9300 block of Marshall Corner Road, confirming the shed fire to be a 30' x 40' shed/detached garage having 6 automobiles inside, and a multitude of clutter fully involved. E-124 started containing the fire, but due to a couple of small explosions, E-124 pulled back waiting for the Wagon to arrive to make an aggressive attack. RE-123, with Chief 12A, arrived on scene laying a 3" line from Marshalls Corner Rd. to the fire and proceeded to extinguish the fire with 1 3/4" Cross lay. Chief 12A established the Marshall Corner Command, and E-112 had the water supply operations utilizing Tanker 12, 1, 11, and E-11 to relay to RE-123. Crews from Companies 3, 1, 11 assisted with fire extinguishment, all other unit were held in staging. Forestry 25 and Dozer 8 were requested by Command to assist as well. Once the fire was almost completely extinguished, Dozer 8 was used to pull the vehicles out. After the vehicles had been removed, the rest of the hot spots were extinguished. Forestry 25 determined that the fire had started from a burn barrel that had not been completely extinguished prior. Units operated on scene for about 2 and half hours.
