August 15, 2004 0521 hrs:
Units from Waldorf were dispatched for a reported motor vehicle collision with injuries at the intersection of Berry Road (Rt. 228) and Middletown Road. Shortly after the initial dispatch, Communications upgraded the assignment for Subjects Trapped, adding a second hurst tool and Medic Unit to the call. Engine 121 and Ambulance 129 arrived on scene to find a two-vehicle head-on collision with subjects trapped in both cars. Engine 121's crew began working on extricating the most severely injured victim. Rescue Squad 3 arrived on scene minutes later and began extricating the victim in the second car. Both trapped victims required extensive extrication to free them from the mangled vehicles. Crews worked quickly to remove the doors, roof, & roll the dash of both vehicles. 2 helicopters were requested to transport both priority one patients to a trauma center. Engine 122 and Accokeek Engine 242 setup a landing site on scene for MSP Trooper 2 and US Park Police Eagle 1. Units cleared the scene at 0640 hours and returned to quarters.
