Waldorf volunteers were alerted to 1112 Heritage Pl for the working townhouse fire across
from the EMS 3 station. Ambulance 39 was the first to arrive, confirming the same with smoke
showing from a window and the eaves. E-31, E-33, E-122, Chiefs 3, 3B, and 12A responded on
the call with Engine 31 arriving on the scene, advancing a line into the fire apartment
where they located a room off in the rear and extinguished the same. E-33 secured E-31's
water supply and Chief 3B arrived on the scene assuming the Waldorf Command. RS-10 was
returning to Bel-Alton from having some work done to their piece in Waldorf and ran as
the first due special service. Command had all other incoming units stage at EMS 3 while
assigning Chief 12A interior and had RS-10 perform the primary and open up for E-31 while
Engine-122 checked the exposures for any extension due to the unique layout of these
homes. Within minutes, the assignment was scaled back to two Engines and Rescue Squad 10.
With the fire out and no extension, Command held 1 and 1. Units operated on the scene for
approximately 45 minutes before returning to service.
