Waldorf Volunteers from Fire Station 3 and EMS Station 3 were alerted to 4230 Leonardtown Road for the Motor Vehicle Accident with a vehicle reported overturned. Engine-32, Ambulance 37, and Chief 3B responded on the call with Amb-37 arriving on the scene to find a single vehicle on its side, down an embankment and with one person walking around on the shoulder of the road. The ambulance crew began patient care on the walking wounded and also sent a provider down to the vehicle to check on any additional patients. Once the provider reached the vehicle they found another patient in the vehicle and immediately notified E-32 and Chief 3B of the same. Chief 3B requested the assignment be upgraded which brought Rescue Engine 123, Amb-129, Paramedic Ambulance-399 and EMS Duty 16B to the scene as additional resources. Engine 32 arrived on the scene and began extricating the patient from the vehicle by removing the roof. Chief 3B arrived on the scene and established the Forest Park Command. Command advised Rescue Engine-123 that when they arrived on the scene they would be utilizing there rescue struts to assist with further stabilization of the vehicle. While the extrication was taking place, it was discovered that there was a third person in the vehicle that had fled the scene into the woods with a significant amount of blood loss. The Charles County Sheriff's Office K9 was on scene and began searching for the third victim. Meanwhile the extrication was completed in just over 5 minutes and the patient was turned over to the EMS crews on the scene. After EMS crews further evaluated the patient that had been extricated, it was determined that he needed to be flown to a trauma center. Command requested a helicopter bringing Trooper 2 to the scene where the patient was then flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma. After the EMS units cleared and the 2 patients were transported the Waldorf Special Operations K9 Team was brought to the scene to assist the C.C.S.O. with tracking the 3rd person from the vehicle. The search went back into the woods and circled back out to Route 5 where it is believed that the subject was picked up by a passing motorist. Command was terminated and units cleared in within 45 minutes.
