Trailer Fire in Idlewood Park

September 16, 2017 hours

Units from Waldorf and surrounding areas were dispatched to Marlette Place in the Idlewood Trailer Park for a reported trailer fire. Chief 3A arrived on scene with fire showing from rear of a single-wide trailer. Neighbors advised that someone may have been trapped inside due to the vehicles in front of the home. Due to our familiarity with the neighborhood, E-32 laid out from Mattawoman-Beantown Road to Marlette Place with E-33 laying out from Marlette to the trailer. E-33's crew advanced a 200ft 1-3/4" attack line into the residence and split into 2 groups, 1 group holding the fire at bay while the 2nd group performed an aggressive primary search. E-121 arrived on scene and established the water supply from the hydrant at Mattawoman & Idlewood Park Road. E-121's crew reported to the scene and advanced a second 1-3/4" attack line into the trailer to backup E-33. E-123's crew advanced a third attack line to the rear and protected the exposed external oil tank. While the fire attack & search was underway, all of the occupants of the trailer were located safe outside the trailer. E-836 arrived and laid a 2nd water supply line from E-32 back to E-121. Truck 1 and Squad 840 assisted with opening up walls and ceiling. Due to all of the extra additions added to the trailer, several hot spots were difficult to gain access to and extinguish. All units worked on scene for almost 2 hours before picking up and returning to quarters. The Maryland State Fire Marshall's Office was called to the scene and the fire is currently under investigation.
