Busy weekend for
Waldorf Volunteers

September 21-24, 2007
reported by Deputy Chief 3 D.J. Mills

This weekend started off for Waldorf Volunteers with some interesting calls:

Truck-3 was alerted to the Chaney gravel pit off of Acton Lane for a jumper. Truck 3, Chief 3A and several EMS and EMS support units responded to the scene to find an adult male threatening to jump off of a conveyer belt approximately 100 ft in the air. County Police detained the subject without further incident. Just as units were clearing this run, a large fight involving about 20 teens erupted in the parking lot of Hot Licks guitar shop across from Fire station 3. Just as the teens heard the sirens, they all scattered.

Saturday afternoon Co. 12 had an extrication at the intersection of Marshalls Corner Rd. & Turkey Hill Rd. where they removed two patients with the help of RE-13. One patient was transported priority-1 and a second priority-2 to the landing site that was set up by E-33.

Later that evening Co. 12 had another fly-out from a MVC on McDaniel Rd. Just before 2300 hrs Co. 3 was alerted to Smallwood Dr. West in the area of St. Charles Town Plaza for the P.I. Pedestrian. Engine 31 and units from EMS-3 arrived on scene to find a motorcycle that had T-boned a car and they requested a helicopter.

Sunday brought an extrication and a fatal for Co. 3 approximately 3 hours apart. During the early morning hours the extrication occurred at St. Charles Pkwy & St. Ignatius Dr. and the fatal occurred at Leonardtown Rd. and Billingsley Rd. Throughout the weekend Chiefs 3A, 3B, and Duty 12 held the commands for the calls in the Waldorf area.

Waldorf Units: E-31, RE-121, Truck-3, Chief's 3A, 3B, EMS-3B, and Duty 12, several EMS-units from 3 and 12.
