reported by Deputy Chief 3 D.J. Mills

While E-31, Truck-1 and Chief 3B were working on a gas leak inside the Civista Womens Health Center, Charles County Communications asked Chief 3B if units could clear for a working house fire in Hughesville. E-31, Chief 3B with 4 responded along with RE-121 with 5. Units from Hughesville arrived on the scene with a 2 story single family home with fire showing from the second floor. Chief 3B arrived on the scene just behind E-23 and took interior ops. RE-121 assisted on the second floor with hydraulic ventilation and hitting hot spots and Truck-1 opened up the entire second floor. E-31 was assigned to cover the first floor for any possible downward extension. Units operated on the scene for about 3 hours. The cause determined to be a vagrant trying to stay warm inside the vacant house.
