September 16, 2004:
Four members of the EMS Apparatus Committee traveled to Manasquann, New Jersey to inspect the new ambulances for Waldorf. The new units are PL Custom Type III Gold Medallion Ambulances. The Committee met with Saleperson Cheryll Lopez and Quality Control Coordinator Clifford Wooley and inspected the units in production. The Committee members were very pleased with the units and found only a few problems. The units are in various stages of production with Ambulance 39 virtually ready for delivery. The Committee clarified the location of some of the portable equipment and coordinated the delivery details for the units. Ambulance 39 is scheduled to arrive at EMS 3 on September 28. Ambulance 399 and Ambulance 128 will be delivered on October 7. The Committee was given a tour of the factory by the Owner of the PL Custom. Chief Dan Stevens had not visited the factory before and was very impressed with the attention to detail and dedication to customer satisfaction. Chief Stevens commented that the 6 PL Custom units currently serving the citizens of Waldorf and Charles County are working out well and we are very pleased with the service the department gets from the factory.
EMS Committee Members on the Trip: EMS Chief 3B Vernon Monday, EMT Keith Scaiffe, Sgt Chris Reeher, & Chief Dan Stevens.
