Garage Fire on Daffodil Place

Dispatch time: September 28, 0848 hrs

Dispatched for a garage fire, arrived to find garage approximately 30x30 well involved. Engine 241 was first arriving and layed out 400 feet of 3" supply line. Engine 32 and Engine 121 arrived just behind each other with Engine 121 picking up Engine 241's supply line. Crews from all three engine company used handlines off Engine 241 for extinguishment. Truck 11 assisted with extinguishment and overhaul. Due to construction in the area it was believed that the fire hydrants were still out of service, several tankers were added to the call then canceled when it was found that the hydrants were back in service. Fire was under control in approximately 15 minutes with units remaining on the scene until the investigation by the State Fire Marshals Office was complete. Fire was declared accidental. Homeowner recieved minor burns to forearms while trying to extinguish the fire, he was checked out by Ambulance 39 and declined transport a signed refusal was obtained. Chief 3A - John Durrer had Command, Lieutenant Ben Jenkins had Operations and Firefighter Michael Thompson had Safety.
