Units from Waldorf Co. 3 were alerted to Poplar Hill Rd in the area of Gardner Rd for the 10-50 PI with one overturned. E-31, Chief 3A and Paramedic Ambulance 38 responded and were advised while enroute that the call was being upgraded to one trapped, also bringing RE-121. E-31 and Chief 3A arrived on the scene to find 2 vehicles on their side with one into a tree about 3 feet off the ground. Chief 3A assumed the command and Chief 3B had the rescue operations. Command requested a Squad to the scene to assist in stabilization of the vehicle into the tree. RE-121 and RS-2 worked together using a come-along and chains to stabilize the vehicle while E-31 and RE-121 worked on the Extrication. E-23 provided a protection line while crews used the air chisel and saw-zall to peel away the roof. While these were being used, RS-2 stabilized the drivers side door up to the patient so there was no drop once the roof was removed. The extrication took about 20 minutes with all units on scene working very well together.
