Ladder Co. 3 and Engine Co. 12
Work House fire in Brandywine

October 27, 2006 - 2200 hours
reported by Deputy Chief DJ Mills

Around 2200 hrs, the assignment was transmitted for a house on fire, off of Floral Park Road in Brandywine. Truck 3 (82), Engine 122 (882), and Chief 3B (82B) responded with a total of 12 volunteers. Engine 401 arrived on scene to find a two story single family with an attached garage fully involved, extending into the house. Chief 3B arrived on the scene and was originally assigned interior operations, and Truck 3 was the third unit on scene, just behind Truck 25, and assumed 1st due special service duties (due to Truck 25 being utilized to back up Engine Co. 40 with an additional line). Engine 122 (4th due Engine Co) arrived on the scene next and picked up E-40’s line. Just prior to the arrival of Engine 122, command had pulled everyone out off the house due to lack of water and waiting for the farthest engine on the call to pick up the first due engines' line. Once a water supply was established and several other units had arrived on the scene command sent crews back in and had Truck 82 open up the second floor with a few engine companies hitting hot spots and extinguishing the attic. Units from Waldorf operated on the scene for about 3 hours.
