Church Fire on Smallwood Drive

Stations 12 & 3 were alerted to the reported commercial building fire at 2900 Smallwood Drive West. Rescue Engine 121, Engine 122, Engine 31, Chief 3B and Chief 12A responded to the call. Rescue Engine 121 arrived on scene and layed out from the corner of the parking lot and Smallwood. Crews approached side Alpha with fire alarms sounding and light smoke coming from side Charlie. Rescue Engine 121's crew advanced a 1 3/4" crosslay and entered with four personnel. Rescue 121's Crew entered the main hall and found a small fire in the Sides B/C corner being controlled by the activated sprinkler system. Engine 31 arrived on scene and deployed a second handline through the entrance on side bravo. Chief 12A established the Smallwood command and appointed Chief 3B as interior operations. Other mutual aid crews initiated ventilation. Command requested the Fire Marshall. The Fire marshall arrived on scene to initiate an investigation. At 1622 Chief 12A turned the scene over to the Fire Marshall and terminated command. All other units went in service at that time.
