On Friday, November 13th, 2009 at 1345 hours, Engine Company 12 was dispatched for the automobile fire in the 7100 block of Bensville Road. RE-123 and Tanker 12 responded with a total of six personnel. EMS Chief 69 was in the area and arrived on scene with one vehicle fully involved in the back yard. RE-123 arrived on scene shortly after EMS Chief 69. Tanker 12 marked up en route moments after RE-123 arrived on scene. RE-123 immediately deployed an 1 3/4" attack line from the front bumper and began to extinguish the fire. Initially there was some magnesium flare ups, but RE-123 was able to knock the fire down. RE-123 checked the residence for extension and found that the fire had not extended to the structure. Tanker 12 arrived on scene and supplied RE-123 with about 300 gallons of water. The owner made an attempt to extinguish the fire himself with a 5lbs ABC extinguisher, but the extinguisher was not charged. After about 10 minutes the fire was completely extinguished. RE-123 held the scene until the arrival of FM-51 and released Tanker 12 for service. U-12 proceeded to the scene to relieve RE-123. FM-51 arrived and took control of scene upon his arrival. All units operated on the scene for approximately 57 minutes.
