House Fire on Sandalwood Drive

Waldorf Volunteer Fire Stations 12 & 3 were alerted for a single family house fire at 2232 Sandalwood Drive, in the Briarwood neighborhood. Engine 33 arrived on the scene to find a 2-story split level detached home with smoke showing from sides A and B of the basement. E-121 picked up E-33's supply line. E-33 split their crew of 6, with 4 members pulling a 1-3/4" attack line and advancing their line to the lower level, where they found a room off in the basement, while the other two members performed a primary search, ventilating as they went. E-121's crew pulled an 1-3/4" backup line off of E-33 and advanced it to the first floor, where they found and extinguished extension above the fire int he basement.

Truck 11 arrived on the scene and was assigned ventilation, Engine 241 arrived on the scene and assisted with checking for extension and overhaul. RS-7 arrived and performed a secondary search, results were negative.

Sandalwood Command released PG Engine 241, Squad 7, and Truck 11, holding units from 12 and 3 to finish salvage and overhaul. The Maryland State Fire Marshal arrived and determined the cause of fire to accidental in nature. Units completed the salvage and overhaul, and cleared the scene shortly after.

There were no reported injuries. The American Red Cross Charles County Chapter assisted the displaced occupants.
