MVC, Auto on Fire

 

 

 

 

Tuesday November 17, 1017 hrs

During the mid morning hours of Tuesday November 17, Waldorf units were alerted to Mattawoman-Beantown Rd. & Idlewood Park Rd. for the MVC with wires down on the vehicle, overturned, and on fire. RS-3 and E-31 responded from quarters and were advised while in route that the County and State police were on the scene with a vehicle well off with power lines crossing the road and on the vehicle, and all patients were out of their vehicles. The Police were also requesting a helicopter for one of the patients that were in the vehicle that rolled over and caught on fire. Engine 31, RS-3, and Chief 3B all arrived on the scene simultaneously, Chief 3B assumed the command and requested an additional EMS unit and 2 additional Engine Co.’s one for the L.Z. and one to assist with the auto fire. RS-3 began assisting the members from Co. 5 and the E.R. Tech from SMH already on the scene with patient care, and Engine 31 set up to protect any exposures from the auto until the power was killed. Amb-128 was the first arriving transport unit on the scene with Medic-1 right behind them and concurred with the police to fly the patient out. PA-167 was the second transport unit on the scene and requested the second patient be flown also. U.S. Park Police Eagle 2 handled both patients while Rescue Engine 121 Handled the L.Z. All units cleared at 1153 hrs.
