Engine's Company 12 and 3 were due to the reported single family house fire originally dispatched in the 4700 block of Hummingbird Drive. RE-123 arrived on scene to find a working fire in a 2-story single family dwelling in the 4700 block of Iceland Gull Court. RE-123 advanced a single 1 3/4" crosslay, and encountered heavy smoke conditions on the first floor. E-31 arrived on scene shortley after, and advanced a single 1 3/4" attack line to the second floor. Chief 12A arrived on scene and established the Iceland Gull Command, assigning Truck 11 to conduct a search of the residence for any occupants, which came back as "All Clear". Truck 11 then assisted Truck 3 with ventilating the structure. E-11's crew advanced another attack line to back up RE-123's crew who had found the fire to be in the living room of the residence. The fire was quickly extinguished, containing it to only the living room. All crews checked for any extension, and found none. Command then requested the State Fire Marshall to investigate the origin and cause of the fire, and started releasing units from the scene. The State Fire Marshall determined through his investigation that fire was caused by improper discardment of ashes from a small old style wood stove. Units operated on scene for about two hours.
